Information: This conference will consider the vision set out by the government's offender health and social care strategy: Improving health, supporting justice. The challenge for commissioners, planners and providers is how to develop services that meet a diverse range of needs and ensure offenders have access to primary, secondary and tertiary care. For practitioners, services users and carers, the key issue is how they can contribute to meeting this challenge.
The conference will generate ideas and discussion, combining plenary presentations on key developments with workshop sessions to explore issues in more depth.
The event is aimed at professionals at all levels who work in the fields of mental health, social care or in the criminal justice system and who come into contact with people who have mental health needs. Delegates already registered to attend include representatives from the Department of Health, the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health, Hafal, police forces throughout the UK, NHS trusts, mental health teams, social services and probation boards.
