Dual diagnosis - clinical skills: National conference

Information: Living with Dual Diagnosis, mental health and substance use means a complex presentation to services, which, at times do not hold the key skills to address the issues. This conference aims to discuss these issues and explore ways of moving services forward for service users. The Department of Health guidelines on Dual Diagnosis were published in 2002 and inpatient guidance in 2006, yet clients are still reporting being rejected for services until they are no longer using substances. This balance needs to be addressed and can be achieved by improving the skills of staff, to be able to manage the complex issues arising from this client group.
